Summary/Abstract: In 2015, the media space was dominated by the refuge and migrant crisis. Media framing, selection and the emphasis of the certain aspects of perceived reality shape the reporting style that can impact public perception. Although research that quantifies public attitude on the immigration topics exists, seldom papers focus on the media content. The goal of this paper is to examine presence of interpretative frames in the migrant crisis media coverage in Croatia, on a sample of 702 articles from four Croatian media. In regard to the observed patterns in the media coverage (repetitive photography of the vulnerable groups, migrant’s personal stories, Croatian friendly and humanitarian approach emphasis) research questions were set: was there a dominant positive frame of the migrants as victims; was Croatia dominantly positively framed as friendly and humanitarian; were there any discrepancies in the coverage due to external factors.
