Summary/Abstract: The current study investigate the role of ruminative tendencies in mediating effects of perfectionism (Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, Frost et al. 1990) on depressive symptoms and anxiety. The results show significant positive associations among maladaptive dimensions of perfectionism, rumination, depression and anxiety. The brooding component of ruminative response style fully or partially mediate the effects of perfectionism on depression and anxiety. These findings support the idea that ruminative tendencies are an important mechanism that can explain relationship between perfectionism, depression and anxiety.
