Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the survey of the old Slavic religion related to the religious and mythological concepts of the lower level. The author believes that the high cults were primarily affected by Christianization and thus were erased from memory. A comparative, primarily lexical analysis leads to a completely opposite conclusion. Pre-Christian spirituality of the Old Slavs was certainly not poorer than the spirituality of their Indo-European ancestors; on the contrary, it must have been more complex and richer than we could assume today on the basis of the superficial and accidentally or intentionally distorted reports about it available to us, as well as on the basis of what was preserved of it in the customs and beliefs of ordinary people. Along with the conservation of the Proto-Indo-European heritage, this spirituality was also open to innovations, primarily those originating from the Old Iranian region which was a source of innovative spiritual trends throughout ancient times and whose influence was felt in a very wide area, from Siberia and Altay Mountains to Greece and Judea.
