Summary/Abstract: Encounter with a private library of a great writer such as Jovan Vava Hristić (1933– 2002) has been, is a great event to all who consider culture to be a generic part of humanity, an ethical act and a fundamental foothold to nations and mankind. What distinguishes Hristić’s own book collection from usual encyclopaedically rich collections of books, public and private, is the individual seal of an erudite and clever collector, passionate thinker and aesthete. The author lists and analyses content of Jovan Hristić’s own library, while accounting personal and family memories in a sad moment after the loss of her mother.
