Summary/Abstract: During the elections to the First and the Second State Dumas of Russia in 1905-1907, volost and village assemblies, representing the peasant class self-government, had adopted sentences-orders, which were addressed to the Duma. The main requirement was the socialization of the land. The author considers that the movement of sentence showed that the peasant community members, using historical forms of protest against the landowners and local authority, appealed to the supreme power, waiting for favors from it, and used a legal channel to inform about their needs. The dispersal of the First and the Second Dumas by the government and the following attempts of dissolution of the community agriculture by P. Stolypin, gave an impulse to the revolutionization of the peasant self-government, which continued during the First World War and had tragic consequences for the Empire of the Romanovs when the February Revolution of 1917 started.
