Summary/Abstract: Water as a symbol is often found in our folk literature. We come across it in almost all genres and subgenres of this literature: in epic, lyric, fairy tales, legends, ballads, etc. This paper focuses on defining the symbol of water in these creations by observing it as a sign of eroticism. The subject of this paper extends from the latest creations to the oldest ones in order to deconstruct the erotic symbolism of water as a source of life. In this paper are taken into consideration fragments of folk literature texts that present couples' meetings in places with water resources such as springs, taps, wells, river banks, etc., noticing how such venues become an important symbol of eroticism. Water resources are places that belong to the cult of nature, chaste ones, and consequently are related to our deeper instincts as human beings, the most important of which is sexual instinct.
