Summary/Abstract: In article public death penalties of the period of the Middle Ages in Europe as a version of mass action in which there is a certain script, executors and spectators are investigated. The author analyzes public – cultural functions of death penalties, systematizes the basic types of public death penalties, taking into account their script-director's and entertainment component.
