Summary/Abstract: The genre of the German Catholic Mass on the example of the creative works of little known Austrian and German composers of the second half of the XVIIIth – the beginning of the XIXth centuries is revealed in the article. The specification of the genre of the German Catholic Mass is defined. The peculiarities of the literary works of the German Masses authors' texts on the example of Alois Bauer’s “Deutsche Messe für die Weihnachtszeit” are analyzed.
