Summary/Abstract: Large scale housing developments, built during the second wave of modernism, are the environments where many urban processes are more visible and are displayed more honestly than in the historically generated environments. As a worker’s settlement, Sykhiv started being constructed inside the ring of industrial zones at the end of the 1970s and thenceforth it’s becoming increasingly integrated into the city. Sykhiv is an example of a district, extremely sensitive to contextual changes, and at the same time, its physical structure and identity are constantly changing. The author attempts at defining certain tendencies of the perceived and the experienced city planning in the district on several formal levels.
