Summary/Abstract: The author of the article explores the Belarusian microtoponyms motivated by somatisms – the names of human body parts. In modern linguistics and folklore, somatisms have been investigated thoroughly. However, place names, derived from somatisms, still require linguists’ attention. The author analyzes the place names, motivating appellatives, as well as folk versions of etymology of the toponyms, and concludes that two nominative models function in the Belarusian microtoponyms: 1) the indicatory model, 2) the model of resemblance.
