Summary/Abstract: Today, the crisis of moral values is often addressed. The link to the problem of conscience is clearly understood in this respect, pointing to the need for its proper formation, which can and should become an instrument of socio-moral renewal of modern society. The renewal of not only the man himself, but also the world, depends also to a large extent on the proper formation of the human conscience. The teaching of John Paul II often indicates this conditioning. Just as man is the first and basic way of the Church (RH 14), the correct formation of conscience is the basis of all moral, social and political renewal. In the era of today's pluralism and broadly understood human freedom, more and more often man appeals to his own conscience, pointing to them as the ultimate and infallible instance of self-esteem and action. Conscience is the closest "instance" of moral evaluation to man and is the "center" of evaluation and action. It should be added right away that it has no privilege of infallibility. It often happens that it errs, incorrectly making ethical evaluation. The issue of authorities, especially the authority of the Church, which plays the role of Mother and Teacher in this matter, was important in the formation that interests us here. Then, an analysis was made of some detailed but necessary means of the formation of conscience. The last part is devoted to the discussion of the environment in which formation takes place. Of many, the family, school and Christian communities have their specific meaning and task.
