Summary/Abstract: John Paul II, recognized as “pope of the media”, is the author of over 220 texts on media and journalism, including on the matter who a journalist is and what his features should be. This article, prepared on the basis of selected statements made by the Holy Father, outlines the profile of the excellent catholic and journalist. It is namely the man who consciously fulfills the “holy” mission of communicating the truth and good in order to serve the man and the society. It is the man of prayer and righteous conscience, sensitive to good and evil, involved in founding and building up the genuine culture, conveying spiritual, moral and religious as well as Christian and human values. He is as well highly qualified in terms of morality, intellect and profession. In short, it is “a genuine Christian and at the same time an excellent journalist” and consequently a zealous evangelizator of the media following the example of charismatic John Paul II.
