Summary/Abstract: Any kind of writing about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s creative endeavours in music deserves special attention. Actually, it is only by combining music science and theoretical interpretation that creation and performance can complete the process we refer to as artistic. The paper is aimed at pointing to the music theory elements of Bosnian-Herzegovinian creative endeavours from the aspect of the vertical syllable, i.e. harmony. Using primarily the analytical method, and then the historical and other, the intention is to link the harmonic language to the style choice of an author or group, and to the influences of the West European music milieu. Ultimately, besides the usual harmonic sets related to a particular style, we will also obtain specific “folk chords”, as a result of abundant use of folk-music material.
