Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research is to reveal the features and intensity of the endeavors towards building of building an unique cultural identity of the town of Haskovo in the beginning of XXI century, in the context of rethinking and transformation the places of socialist cult. The paper also outlines by the means of the critical historical and cultural analysis, other tangible and intangible traditional town symbols, which potential to contribute for the cultural identity of Haskovo is neglected and underestimated.
