Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at analyzing the tragic formula of Felicjan Faleński with a special focus on the musical layer that brings Althea closer to the oratory. The mythological story of the Calydonian hunts was used by Faleński only to constitute the background of the in depth psychological analysis of the heroes. Althea, retaining the structural elements of the Greek tragedy, is closer to modernist worldview diagnoses that focus on the sphere of the human psyche and entangle humanity in the will of power, the instinct that determines all actions and existence.
