Use of Temples for Coinage Purposes in the Northern Black Sea Towns

Summary/Abstract: The author points out at a big importance of the temples for development of coinage system in Olbia, Hersones, Pantikapeum and other ancient Greek towns of the region. Possessing large riches, the temples served as guarantors of full value of the local coins and took their own part in the emission activities. Particularly active were the Apollo’s temples.
