Summary/Abstract: In a way, it is a review of the book “Archaeology and other things… A contribution to the thirtieth anniversary of the archaeological expedition of the Leningrad Palate of Pioneers” edited in St.-Petersburg in 2002. It is a large volume (of over 500 pages) written by its 65 authors for their own pleasure; it is a collective book compiled of personal memoirs, memories, but at the same time it turns to be extremely interesting for any reader. It tells about the longstanding archaeological expedition to Siberia organized by the school archaeological club at the Leningrad Palate of Pioneers. It was a real expedition, in which the schoolchildren from Leningrad worked under the leadership of several professional archaeologists. Dozens of schoolchildren spent summers in this expedition, collecting impressions, building their life and work skills through participation in collective activities. The author of this review analyses the environment conditioning the schoolchildren’s activities in that far-away and harsh expedition, shows its heroes doing their complicated and necessary business.
