Summary/Abstract: The article presents, with many details and comments, the way in which new and tremendously advanced technologies might completely reshape the tactical, operational and strategic landscape of future wars (and of military operations other than war, as well). The author makes a very clear statement: what military theorists call transformation has advanced technologies as a natural main pillar. In this context, the author presents and comments several opinions (including some official documents made public by US authorities) dealing mainly with nanotechnologies. These very advanced technologies can significantly increase the military capabilities of both USA and European members of NATO, boosting the national power of all these countries and increasing their influence on the international arena. A special attention is given to the way in which nanotechnologies and robotics might become more and more significant in asymmetric warfare (already present both in Iraq and in Afghanistan, where US and allied military units are confronted with urban guerilla and terrorist attacks). According to the opinion of the author, one of the most important strategic goals of both USA and NATO is to maintain and develop military technological superiority, in order to maintain and consolidate the political and geo-strategic influence on the international arena.
