Summary/Abstract: Introduction. The article deals with defining the concern of the ontological approach towards philosophy of art as a new branch whose genesis is linked to the way philosophy changed over the 20th century. The purpose of the article is to identify and characterize the ontological approach to philosophy of arts, and describe its methodological value for art. Materials and Methods. The author applied the system-synergetic approach whose advantages consist in combining researches over information accumulated by art studies with analytics of modern art experiences featured in philosophy and aesthetics. The actual approach reexamines the artwork and perception theory from the perspective of phenomenal analysis of art work, subsequently drawing their new concepts. Results. The main results of the research consist in emphasizing the following actual problems concerning the ontological approach towards philosophy of art: relation between classic and non-classic in philosophy and art, genesis of philosophy of art as a science, and ontological definition of the approach. The author found out that the modern philosophy of art is not only linked to non-classical aesthetics, but has its own particularities as well, which consist in ontological approach towards art as a form of human being. The author emphasized the concern of substrate analysis of art entity for philosophy of art within modern culture. According to ontological approach, the author explained the philosophy of art as a dialogue between a human and the world, through which a new attitude towards being, its expression and perception were revealed. Conclusions. In conclusion, the author defines the concern of the ontological approach in philosophy of art, which integrates art material of “questioning” about reason for being and studies new forms of interaction of different forms of being (otherness) manifested in art. Analyzing the philosophy of arts as a field of human being, the author deduces that methodological concern of the ontological approach consists in identifying the interconnection between art and general philosophical context of the era.
