Next, the main areas of interests of the Polish sociologists studying the problems of collective employment relations are analysed. In the final part of the article, with the reference to the division of sociological labour proposed by Michael Burawoy, the various professional roles of industrial relations researchers within the scope of academic sociology, critical sociology, professional sociology and policy‑oriented sociology are discussed.
