Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the means of creation and perception of music image - association, dialogue, empathy and catharsis - in vocal and performing arts. Methodology. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is general scientific methods: historicism, systematization, comparison, generalization. The basis of provisions of is modern Aesthetics, Cultural studies, the specifics of the creative process and the problems of interpretation in art. Scientific novelty. The study proved the importance of means of creation and perception of music image - association, dialogue, empathy and catharsis - in the vocal arts. Conclusions. The means of creating a musical image - association, dialogue, empathy and catharsis, play a great role in vocal and performing arts. Through empathic processes it becomes possible emotional communication, "broadcast feelings" to each other. Empathy is "embedded" in interpersonal relationships. The attention is focused on the inner world of the «Another». People can understand with some degree of depth of thoughts and spiritual movements, emotional state of other people, which is especially important for singer-artists. Feeling the tragedy of life, pain is the main engine as creating music and performing interpretation. A powerful catalyst that reveals the presence of emotional and sensual factor in humans, the human capacity to imagine the emotional factor in the form of experience is an act of catharsis.
