Summary/Abstract: The article considers the process of formation of the institute of domestic health care and social group of the medical intelligentsia as well as the structure of the medical treatment building. By the analysis of historical and statistical material the social status of various categories of city doctors, process of self-organization of physicians and public organizations in the XVIII — the beginning of the XX century is shown.
