Summary/Abstract: The authors analyze the origins and evolution of the legal institution, which is a trademark. The article considers the ap-proaches to the description and content of the term "trademark" in the period of the Soviet Union, as well as the procedure of registration and legal protection of the means of customization at various stages of Russian history in the twentieth century.
