Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to analyze, based on a few nuclear texts by Roland Barthes, the Author’s critical, sociological and semiotic approach concerning stereotypes and ideological mystification disseminated by mass culture, essentially petit-bourgeois and anti-intellectual. These flawed currents of thought should nevertheless be transparent, i.e., « natural », in relation to social phenomena, thus without ideological bias or pre-existing normative structure. In fact, submitted to Barthes’s rigorous analysis, often permeated by irony or dark humour, according to each case, these constructions work as devices of multiplication and diffusion of ideologemes, among messages either imperative or insidious, assigned by the promoters of mass culture.
