Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a short historical review of the public attitude towards suicide and the way it impacts Criminal Law. The highlights in the article are first of all, the attitude that the people of antiquity showed towards the right to die, then the Church' s hegemony taking over the legislator's functions, as well as the society turning back to the values of Antiquity and the natural human rights. This article is the first part of a research about criminalization and decriminalization of suicide.
