Summary/Abstract: The Polish economy and its security are significantly based on the stability of functioning of the SMEs sector. The strong, innovative and still developing sector of such enterprises is presented on the basis of roles of that sector, specified in literature, as an element of broadly understood idea of the economic security of the state. The importance of financial liquidity presented herein and its impact on essential processes, which guarantee enterprises in this sector their development and security, directly translates into the condition of their functioning and at the same time into the broadly understood economic security of the state. Upsetting of the stability of financial liquidity is a serious danger, which is a frequent phenomenon in the market economy, that is why it requires a continuous supervision and appropriate politics and strategies which guarantee the least possible disturbances of the process of functioning and development of an enterprise.
