Summary/Abstract: Throughout the history, censorship was the suppression of speech, public communication and a way of expressing political power. By limiting the access to information that was against the state politics, communists achieved to brush aside any forms of resistance and using persuasion the ideas of the new regime were inoculated. The librarians tried to obey the communist law, but sometimes kept hidden forbidden documents that were sent to be destroyed. Over 2.500 titles represent the forbidden books that we have in ‚V.A Urechia‛ Library, some of which we mention the following opponent authors: Agârbiceanu Ion, Bacalbaşa Constantin. Crainic Nichifor, Densusianu, Ovid, Eminescu Mihai. The year 1945 represented for Romania the year that the secret funds appeared generated by the the „Law Act no.364/1945‛ that banned the publish of: books, serials, movies, medals, badges that contained elements against the good relations with the Sovietic Union. Where oppression exists forms of resistance will also exist and authors like Arghezi, Sadoveanu, Topârceanu, Preda found a way of making their voice heard.
