Summary/Abstract: In this article we have scrutinized the theme of orphanage on the materials of Russian and Kazakh writers Victor Astafyev (The last bow) and Saiyn Muratbekov (The smell of wormwood). Astafyev and Muratbekov are representatives of that genereation who face the war in their youth. Therefore the theme of war introduced the pain of the writers. The writers passed through the hard circumstances: they starved in their childhood, they were orphans, lived in orphanages. Astafyev’s The last bow and Muratbekov’s The smell of wormwood can be considered as call for love, compassion and observance of Christianity commandments.
