About the Relationship of Juozas Balčikonis and Jan Otrębski

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the scientific cooperation of two prominent linguists of the Lithuanian language, Juozas Balčikonis and Jan Otrębski. Based on documentary sources, it attempts to trace the beginning of their cooperation and their further communication. It becomes clear how the two linguists evaluated the works of each other; how much influence their relationship had on the science and practice of the Lithuanian language; the article also creates conditions to reveal certain linguistic positions followed by them in a broader way.
