Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the discussion of two homiletic texts by Kirill Stavrovetskyi (7-1646), a Ruthenian theologian, a homilist, a hagiographer, a poet, a typographer, an author of the first Ruthenian theological treaty Mirror of the Theology (Зерцало богословии) and the collections of sermons Instructive Gospel (Учительное евангелие) and Precious Pearl {Перла многоценна), in terms of borrowings from preaching and hagiography of Polish Jesuit Peter Skarga. The inspirations by P. Skarga are visible in many texts of the Orthodox preacher, but the two mentioned in the title are dependent on the prototypes to the greatest extent. In memory of St. Stephen P. Skarga wrote two works — the life and preaching — and both were used by K. Stavrovetskyi. In the case of the sermon On the Consecration of the Temple he also reached for the instruction of another Polish Jesuit, Jakub Wujek. He approached his work creatively, did not take the Catholic material mindlessly, he made an adaptation, keeping in mind the cultural and dogmatic differences.
