Summary/Abstract: This essay is an analysis of Adriana Bittel’s short stories from the point of view of the author’s Jewishness and femininity. There is an increasing presence of Jewish references in Bittel’s short fiction which points to the degree in which Jewish visibility was accepted in Romanian society before and after 1990. As a woman writer, Bittel insists on that everyday heroism which is typical of Romanian femininity, the heroism of coping with the necessities of everyday life.
