Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to research the literary translation activities of Paisius Velichkovsky in the context of spiritual culture of Ukraine in XVIII century. Methodology. The research methodology includes historical, epistemological, and learning sources methods. Scientific Novelty. The author has found that Paisius Velichkovsky was the founder of the Ukrainian ascetic literature, bringing the source of monastic education to the Ukrainians. Due to it, the first translations of the Church Fathers appeared on the Ukrainian territories, which positively influenced on the spiritual practice of the monks and spiritual life of Ukraine. Conclusions. Paisius Velichkovsky returned the monastic life to its ancient foundations. He was the upgrader the Ukrainian religious life and the first Ukrainian monk mentor and leader in the ascetic reading. Paisius Velichkovsky’s translations enriched the spiritual wealth and monastic life of that period.
