Summary/Abstract: The article aims to study the role and influence of information on the formation of personality, society and socio-cultural environment of the present. The article outlines the transformations in culture, which happen in socio-cultural environment under the influence of information and information technologies. Methodology. The author uses the cultural approach that integrates scientific cognition of culture as a methodology for the research to study socio-cultural environment. The comprehensive method enables the integration of the idea of the informational sphere into the field of socio-cultural studies and outlines socio-cultural problematic in the context of actualization of the information influence on the development of man, society and culture. Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the work lies in proving the deep essence of information in historical and culturological aspects and in their correlation to modern socio-cultural environment. Conclusions. Using the information in various spheres of society is the key factor of social actuality. Culture and information are a unified multifarious and multifold unit that creates the information field of culture. On the basis of their interaction, it is possible to revive common values that exist in the past and to create new socially important values of society and dominants of this development, to create environment for creative development and personal realization of man, to reveal their essential characteristics and individual abilities.
