Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the motives of love and erotic in Indian aesthetics, architecture and fine arts. It focuses attention on the origins of the mentioned motives in traditional Indian culture. It considers various erotic manifestations in social life, religion and art of India and compares them with analogical manifestations in Western culture. The article maintains that in Indian aesthetics, especially in Tantrism, love and erotic is regarded as the hinge of every artistic work. It pays special attention to the works in which sexual intercourses are depicted in a manner that apparently eliminates all contradictions between soul and body.
