Summary/Abstract: The involvement of the Transylvanian Romanians in the First World War has become the object of a complex research organized by the Transylvanian Association for the Romanian Literature and for the Culture of the Romanian Nation in collaboration with the Transylvanian General Directorate of Interior. The research developed between the period 1921-1922 was divided into two methodologically and thematically distinct components. A standard survey entitled „Nominal board” has captured the involvement of the Romanian population in the events of the Great War (the mobilization, the arrest, the refuge in Romania, the deaths, the injured people, the invalids, the missing persons, the people who turned back home, the military distinctions, the widows, the orphans). As information of personal identity the research has used the first and second name, the place of the birth and the profession. The centralized information belonging to the Romanian comunities from the 22 counties situated in Transylvania, Banat, Crişana and Maramureş have been published by the president of ASTRA’s historical section, Teodor V. Pãcãţian, in the year 1923. The second component of ASTRA’s research, an interview guideline entitled „Report” has investigated the volontary contributions of the Romanian population, its damages and the events scored in the autumn of the year 1918. This component has entered the historiographical circuit during the last years due to the contribution of the researcher from Cluj, Andreea Dãncilã Ineoan. The present article emphasizes new possibilities of developping the first component, predominantly quantitative through statistical and qualitative investigations, the last approach being facilitated by the nominal registration of the statistic individuals and by the insertion of the section entitled „Observations”. The directions taken into consideration by the present analytical discourse are the following: 1) publishing the results of ASTRA’s research identified within each Transylvanian Romanian comunity after the territorial-administrative division during the 1910 census whose information we provide so as to emphasize once more the loss of human lives caused by the war; 2) emphasizing some socio-professional profiles as reported to the dangers brought by the war context at the beginning of the 20th century; 3) identifying and realizing lists of individuals belonging to the Romanian elite (e. g. priests, scholars); 4) outlining relations between the socio-cultural sphere, the dangers and the sufferance. Reported to the preparation of a volume dedicated to the entire Transylvania, the present article provides the interested researchers with important information regarding the Romanian population living in the Alba de Jos and Fãgãraş counties.
