Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the aesthetic ideas and pedagogical principles of Antanas Gudaitis, one of the most distinguished creators of the 20th century Lithuanian national painting school. The author focuses attention on his evolution as a painter, examines the influence of Paris internship on formation of Gudaitis expressive painting style, and discusses his pedagogic achievements. Special attention is paid to the creative potentiality of the painter and to the analysis of his favorite genres, elements of expressionist style, composition of forms and coloring researches.
