The Corporeal Dance of Anna Halprin

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents Halprin’s ideas on interactive connections between contemporary movement forms and the body. Her smart choreographic solutions directly affirm the view on gender subjectivity, femininity, embodiment and otherness in dance and life. In the zone of Postmodern theatre politics, self-identification together with corporeality has been found a special Halprin-like-manner of raising itself beyond the patriarchal norms. Definitely, Anna Halprin is one of the most fascinating creative persons of our times, 97 years old and still dancing to this day.
