Summary/Abstract: Poland is a country located geographically specific. Despite the many threats in the past is now a safe country. Contemporary threats necessitate the continued development and operation. The presence of Polish NATO is not always favorably commented upon by Russia. The European Un-ion helps to protect its international position. Poland is a bridge that can connect in the future, theRussian Federation with the European Union. Relations Polish – Russian are extremely complicat-ed and difficult. History still determines the relationship and influence on foreign policy visions ofthe two countries. The personification of the current policy of Russia is Vladimir Putin, and imme-diately after Dmitry Medvedev, making it difficult to expect that a strong leader will perceive Rus-sia as an equal partner in Poland. Hope for change is a process taking place between generations. Russia, despite a weaker position than the Soviet Union remains an important geostrategic player. NATO and the European Union should develop a commonstrategy of consistent impact on Russia.
