Summary/Abstract: Discography – sound recordings and music publishing – is very important for the quality of music in every community because it has a significant influence on the musicians, audience and culture in general. Also, discography is especially important for the preservation and promotion of the Croatian musical heritage and contemporary classical music. This paper addresses the problems in the field of discography and archiving of sound recordings of the musical heritage of Varaždin and Varaždin region. Drawing primarily from his own experience as a long-time music director and producer, the author focuses on the activity of the Aulos Association, which he presides over and which has so far released more than 50 titles, mainly in collaboration with other relevant institutions. one of the major activities of Aulos is the one related to the Varaždin Baroque Evenings festival and Varaždin Concert Agency: this refers to the Varaždin Baroque Evenings Audio Archives project. In the overview of the published discography, the author highlights the albums by three composers from the 18th and 19th century musical heritage of Varaždin: Ivan Padovec, Leopold Ebner and Ivan Krstitelj Vaňhal,but also the Aulos editions of contemporary Varaždin composers such as Davor Bobić and Anđelko Igrec, as well as many Varaždin soloists, choirs and orchestras whose albums have also been released by Aulos. In his conclusion, the author emphasizes the importance of further work in this field, especially in terms of the planned project of digitization of old sound recordings at risk of loss in order to make them accessible to the public via Internet so that musicians and musicologists and general public can learn more about the musical heritage of Varaždin. Aulos has released sound recording media of performances given by some of the world’s best ensembles and artists (Herbert von Karajan, Lovro von Matačić, Karl Richter, Robert Stolz, Vladimir Kranjčević, Pavle Dešpalj, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Ruža Pospiš-Baldani, nada Putar-Gold, Jurica Murai, Rudolf Klepač, Dunja Vejzović, Tomislav neralić, Franjo Petrušanec, Vlatka Oršanić, Višnja Mažuran and many others).
