Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to reveal the significance of parental behaviors in shaping the altruistic motivation of children, which is largely conditioned by family factors. The discourse around parenthood always arouses a huge stir. This is related, among other things, to the responsibility that parents have for the children's upbringing. It is important to prepare a young man to live in society, so that he could act on behalf of others. Therefore, intentional parental participation is a very important factor in the educational process. This article presents the consecutive sequence of parental behaviors, which are classified on the basis of selected models of parenthood: involved parenthood, dependence, non-dependence, interdependence and generativity models. Presented models indicate that the course of the process of children's upbringing in the family depends both on the involvement degree of performed parental role as well as the culture of the family environment and the way of solving the dilemma of the average maturity period, which is generativity-stagnation. The essence of the altruistic motivation shaping process was also indicated. In the last part, an attempt to highlight the significance of parental behaviors for children's altruistic motivation shaping was undertaken.
