Summary/Abstract: The Jadidism Movement starting in the early 19th century among Russian Turks reached its peak level with Ismail Gasprinsky towards the end of the century. This philosophical-intellectual movement started to turn into a political movement in the late 19th century. This movement, as it did in every region of the Turkish World, had an effect on Eastern Turkistan Uigurs as well. Abdulhalûk Uygur occupies an important place among the intellectuals raising in the Eastern Turkistan with these thoughts. Abdulhalûk Uygur did not only fight against the Chinese imperialism, but he also struggled to open a path towards development for the nation by fighting against feudal residuals arguing for the blind attachment to the old traditions and resisting against progress. He was killed in young age as one of the victims of the traditionalism - jadidism conflict continuing in every region of the Turkish World in that period. The present article aims to find an answer to the question of 'How and under what conditions did the Jadidism Movement expand in the Eastern Turkistan?' by examining the jadidism thought in the works of patriotic, nationalist and realist Abdulhalûk Uygur, a young Uigur Jadidist and one of the pioneers of this movement.
