Summary/Abstract: After the Cold War Putin’s Russia started to enforce a more active policy towards its neighbors to revive its impact in the former Soviet republics. In this framework Russia tried to reduce the impact of the European Union and NATO in its neighborhood countries and didn’t hesitate to use hard power if necessary. Russia’s attitude towards Ukraine has been appropriate to Russia’s policy and Russia showed that it will not compromise containing from the Western states.To solve this problem the behavior of the European states and especially Germany is vital.
