Summary/Abstract: Trabzon was one of the city of Anatolia, where the local press was powerful since the local press had been published in Ottoman province in the Second Constitutional Era. The local press in Trabzon developed in three different period, which are the Second Constitutional Era, the Turkish National Struggle of Independence and Multi-Party Democracy Era, until 1950 in accordance with the political landscape. The local press in Trabzon showed remarkable progress and change in parallel with the political line of national press and the attempts of setting Multi-Party Democracy to rights in the country after 1945. This paper reveals the alternation and development of Trabzon press be-tween 1945-1950. On one hand, the request of local intellectuals to evaluate the democratic atmosphere by writing, manifesting ideas and sharing the thoughts with public through newspapers and magazines, on the other hand, effort of power and opposition to use the press in order to reach whole social segments , emerge as a striking feature of the period. The paper, which covers the Trabzon Press between 1945-1950 in terms of general characteristic, expresses also the role of the press within press-politics relation. In this frame, the change of the press during the transition from the single-party structure to multi-party structure, the discussion topics of new press organs on local and national politics is investigated.
