Summary/Abstract: The studies was concerned on determining the effectiveness of Polish cooperative banks, depending on the gender of the person holding the position of chairman of the board. The study included 40 randomly selected cooperative banks operating in Poland in the years 2010-2014.The study shows that the gender of the person acting as a chairman of the board in a cooperative bank affect the level of its effectiveness, as banks managed by women, in 2010-2014, were granted a significantly higher average level of efficiency measured by ROE, ROA and C/I than banks managed by men. In addition, the correlation coefficient showed the existence of a significant correlation between the sex of a person holding the position of chairman of the board and the level of efficiency of the bank.
