Summary/Abstract: This elaboration is connected with the accounting system in the Polish economic practice – problems and need to change the approach to its purpose and role in the company. The key characteristics of Polish accounting nowadays are presented as well as an attempt to overthrow the accrued myths around it. The research method used in the article is a critical analysis of the literature, as well as their own observations and experiences resulting from the analysis of practices to improve the accounting system in Polish enterprises.
