Cultural Policy and Education in the Contemporary Society

Summary/Abstract: The paper has indicated the necessity of interconnectedness cultural policy and education in the conditions of multicultural society. A complex process of society reform requires and transformation of all structures of the educational system. It is possible to follow this concept only under conditions of cooperation and complementarity of actives inside different segments of formal education. Providing knowledge about social structure, social power, rights, duties and responsibilities of persons in the society and the educational system, than providing knowledge about culture, the school would prevail its traditional role and become a center of culture. By accomplishing the concept of promoting different cultural contents, which come from their own culture and from the others cultures, within the institutional education, the affirmative relation toward the national and the cultural identity, as multicultural identity is realized and the process of their accepting and preserving starts. By choosing and controling cultural identities and values which are presented within the institutional educational systems, there is a possibility to develop or to control, by means of education, the tolerance between the cultures in one state or between the cultures of different states.
