The Geopolitical Features of Slovakia´s Environment

Summary/Abstract: This article tries to briefl y describe Slovakia’s geopolitical situation at two mutally interlinked levels, i.e. the global and the regional one. After defi ning the starting, from IR theory derived, assumptions, the article proceeds to defi ne Slovakia’s relative power potential and its position in the international system and international society at both the more detached global and the more immediate regional level. The article ends with some preliminary recommendations that should be refl ected in Slovakia´s offi cial foreign policy.
