Summary/Abstract: This paper critically evaluates the hitherto views on the origins of Jewish settlement in Boskovice and, in particular, draws attention to Bertold Bretholz’s misinterpretation of sentences in the Law Book of the City of Brno (Právní kniha mìsta Brna), which refer to a Jew in Boskovice, on the basis of which it was considered that Jews settled in Boskovice in the Middle Ages. It points out the records of Jews in the municipal books of Boskovice, on the basis of which the origins of Jewish settlements there may be dated back to the 16th century.
