Selected economic and technological criteria for the allocation of data and services in cloud computing

Summary/Abstract: Cloud computing is a new paradigm of IT service delivery. There are many benefits of its implementation which can oscillate from cost reduction to the improvement of management processes. The decision to use this model should be preceded by a business analysis, in particular the analysis of IT services maintenance costs and their impact on the flexibility of the delivery of new IT solutions. For organizations, the decision to migrate to the cloud and the choice of a particular model is a multi-step process that should take into account not only the aspects characterizing data or services which transfer is being considered, but also the properties offered by the cloud computing model. This decision is conditioned not ony by economic criteria, but also technological factors specific for the cloud model. The aim of the article is to define the criteria relevant to the decision of the allocation of data and services in cloud computing, which can be helpful in identifying potential areas for use of cloud computing solutions.
