LITERAL AND HISTORICAL CHARACTER OF PRINCESS PALEOLOGINA

Summary/Abstract: With her dramatic and very interesting fate, Simonida Paleologina,Byzantine princess, left a deep mark in medieval history. Her life was an inspirationto many artists, therefore, many of literar and artistic works have princess SimonidaPaleologina as a muse. Subject of this paper analysis is the character of SimonidaPaleologina in historical records, serbian medieval biographies and modern historicaldrama „Kraljeva jesen“ written by Milutin Bojić. It has been determined, with preciseanalysis, that Simonida's character was a subject of a great transformation.We have tried to demonstrate in which extent has the author of the drama relied onauthentic historical data and medieval literary writings while shaping Simonida’scharacter.
